Winship Emory Midtown

Winship Emory Midtown is a full-service cancer care center designed by SOM in partnership with May Architecture. The new 17-story facility (450,000 sq. ft.) houses ORs, inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic imaging, linear accelerators, rehabilitation, wellness, and clinical research. Herter Design Group was tasked with designing a holistic and comprehensive interior and exterior wayfinding sign program.

The design of the wayfinding program is simple and direct, using signs sparingly at critical decision points. The program consists primarily of strategically placed perpendicular flag signs and dimensional letters that can be viewed from a distance in open areas or down corridors. Elegant stainless steel letters are utilized for identifying departments and amenities. The HDG team was also responsible for the design of exterior signage, parking garage wayfinding, ADA room signs and clinical/regulatory signs.
