ASLA Research Grants

ASLA, via the ASLA Fund, issued grants to two Universities to provide peer-reviewed research on landscape architecture solutions to the climate and biodiversity crisis. The grant recipients, Dr. Daniella Hirschfeld, PhD (Utah State University) and Dr. Sohyun Park, PhD (University of Connecticut), produced research studies that aggregate the most relevant peer-reviewed evidence for landscape architecture and nature-based solutions.

Dr. Hirshfeld’s study examines research for Landscape Architecture Solutions to Extreme Heat; Dr. Park’s study examines research for Landscape Architecture Solutions to Biodiversity Loss. Herter Design Group partnered with ASLA and the researchers to design Executive Summaries and the full Research Studies for each topic. The documents are formatted as 8.5″ x 11″ PDF files for digital download that include extensive hyperlinks to cited published research and case studies. PDF files can be downloaded at asla.org/evidence.
